When the printer is turned on, the nozzle is heated, and after the printing head is heated, the ink droplets are ejected through the nozzle. Since the nozzle ejects a relatively large amount of ink at one time, part of the ink will be scattered on the paper.
The ink that has been scattered on the paper is collected into the spittoon, which is composed of a silicone tube, check valve and waste ink tank. The check valve is used to prevent the ink from flowing back to the ink tank. The remaining ink will flow down from the check valve into the waste ink tank, which is devoted to collecting ink.
When the cleaning cycle of the printer is started, the waste ink tank of the printer is opened and the ink is extracted into the waste ink tank at a certain speed. The waste ink contains a certain amount of air, and when the ink is extracted from the spittoon, the air is released from the spittoon, which causes the ink to spurt out. This process allows the cleaning cycle to be completed more efficiently and effectively.
Finally, the waste ink is stored in the waste ink tank until it is full. When the waste ink tank is full, the printer will show an error message indicating that it is full, and the printer needs to be serviced. By using the waste ink collection system, the printer can detect the amount of waste ink in the tank, thereby extending the life of the printer.
