Step 1: Make sure your Canon printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
Step 2: Locate the print head assembly cover, usually on the top side of the printer.
Step 3: Remove the cover and locate the clear cartridge shuttle and the Print Head Assembly Unit.
Step 4: Remove the print head assembly unit by grasping the black plastic handle and pulling up.
Step 5: Unscrew the screw that holds the print head in place, and then remove the print head.
Step 6: Clean the print head nozzles with clean water and then dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Step 7: Place the print head in the shuttle and make sure it is firmly seated.
Step 8: Replace the print head assembly unit and secure it with the screw.
Step 9: Plug the power source back in and turn on the printer.
Step 10: Open the cartridge cover and manually reset the cartridges.
Step 11: If the printer indicates that the cartridge is empty, press the “Go” button to reset the ink levels on the printer.
Step 12: Close the cover and run a few pages of a test print job to make sure the printer is working properly.
