Canon inkjet printers use a type of ink called pigment or dye-based ink. Pigment-based inks are typically denser and contain more of the actual pigment-based material, meaning they’re able to create prints with a sharper, more intense black. Dye-based inks are lighter and lack the same intensity of black. The amount of cartridge waste a printer produces depends on how often it is used and the type of ink it uses. Since a Canon inkjet printer uses pigment inks, it will likely produce more waste for a set of 700 prints than a printer that uses dye-based ink.
